It contains eight ecoregions—Northeastern Himalayan Subalpine Conifer Forests (702), Eastern Himalayan Alpine Shrub and Meadows (751), Hindu Kush Alpine Meadow (753), Karakoram-West Tibetan Plateau Alpine Steppe (754), Northwestern Himalayan Alpine Shrub and Meadows (760), Pamir Alpine Desert and Tundra (762) Western Himalayan Alpine Shrub and Meadows (769), Yarlung Zanbo Arid Steppe (770).
