The Mongolian Grasslands, Alpine Meadows & Forest Steppe bioregion is located in the Eastern Eurasia realm (eastern Palearctic) and contains six ecoregions – Khangai Mountains Conifer Forests (700), Daurian Forest Steppe (726), Mongolian-Manchurian Grassland (734), Selenge-Orkhon Forest Steppe (737), Nenjiang River Grassland (743), Khangai Mountains Alpine Meadow (755) – totaling approximately 139 million hectares of land area.

The Mongolian Grasslands, Alpine Meadows & Forest Steppe bioregion is part of the Mongolian Grasslands subrealm and is made up of six ecoregions: (1) Selenge-Orkhon Forest Steppe (2) Khangai Mountains Alpine Meadow (3) Khangai Mountains Conifer Forests (4) Mongolian-Manchurian Grassland (5) Daurian Forest Steppe (6) Nenjiang River Grassland.
