Electric Transport

Electric Transport

Solution Pathway

Electric transport refers to any mode of transportation, including trains, trams, cars, buses, and bikes, powered by renewable electricity. This electricity can be supplied either directly from the grid or through energy stored in batteries. Electric transport significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution compared to conventional fossil-fueled vehicles. About 80% of all energy used to power a gasoline vehicle is lost to various inefficiencies. In comparison, an electric vehicle only loses about 11% of the original energy used to power it. Expanding electric transport requires investment in charging infrastructure, including fast-charging stations and grid upgrades to handle increased electric demand. Policies and incentives, such as subsidies for electric vehicle purchases and tax benefits for infrastructure development, can accelerate adoption. Innovations in battery technology and energy storage solutions will also play a crucial role in making electric transport more efficient and accessible.
