Montane Grasslands & Shrublands
Biome
Montane (mountain) grasslands and shrublands occur at high altitudes, where temperatures are cooler than in lowland grasslands. This biome, found in mountainous regions like the Andes, Himalayas, and Ethiopian Highlands, supports unique species adapted to thin air and colder climates, like snow leopards and llamas. They are characterized by a mix of grasses, shrubs, and sometimes small trees.
