Solar Heat
Solution Pathway
Solar heat involves using the sun's energy to heat water or air. This is achieved through special systems that collect and store renewable thermal energy, typically in sealed flat plates with copper pipes. Solar thermal heating systems can contribute significantly to energy resilience and sustainability. By harnessing solar energy to produce heat, we can reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, decrease greenhouse gas emissions, and reduce the need for long-distance energy transmission. To advance solar heating, a major focus should be on integrating solar thermal systems into both new and existing infrastructure. This includes retrofitting buildings with solar heating technologies and incorporating these systems into the design of new constructions. Streamlined permitting processes and building codes that mandate or encourage the use of solar heating can facilitate this integration.
