Developing the Nature Tech Taxonomy Framework

The development of the Nature Tech Taxonomy Framework, led by the Nature Tech Collective (NTC) and ImpactLabs, aims to establish a shared language and categorization system for the rapidly expanding field of nature tech solutions. The report highlights the critical need to address the nature-finance gap and accelerate the transition to a nature-positive economy. To achieve this, the framework is structured around three key lenses: the Transition Lens, which focuses on areas such as regenerative agriculture and nature-positive finance; the Nature Lens, which employs One Earth's Bioregions Framework to navigate the complexities of nature; and the Tech Lens, which categorizes solutions according to the "5Ms" framework—Market Pressures, Measurement and Monitoring, Modeling, Material Change, and Monetization. Additionally, the framework includes use cases that demonstrate its practical application, such as helping investment funds identify nature-positive solutions and assisting companies in implementing and monitoring restoration projects.
