One Earth endorses the Geneva Pledge for Gender-Responsive Climate Action

One Earth's Executive Director Justin Winters is proud to join over 60 INT Gender Champions and decision-makers in signing the Geneva Pledge for Gender-Responsive Climate Action calling for equitable, inclusive climate action. As COP29 begins, the Pledge aims to ignite concrete action and leadership in gender-responsive climate solutions.

Women are at the forefront of the fight to save our planet, yet they remain underrepresented in decision-making processes and climate negotiations. The Geneva Pledge is a commitment to dismantle these barriers of gender inequality through six core principles:

Six core principles of the Geneva Pledge

Developed through in-depth consultations within the International Gender Champions (IGC) community, the Pledge calls for collaborative, inclusive practices that address the distinct challenges faced by women, girls, and marginalized communities in the face of climate change.

Gender equity is one of seven vital intersectional themes we've identified in the One Earth Solutions Framework to ensure that people, especially marginalized communities,  are at the heart of the global transition. This theme embodies the notion that women's empowerment is crucial for effective climate action. When equipped with equal resources and rights, women can drive sustainable practices in their communities, innovate climate solutions, and lead the charge toward a thriving future

Gender equality is not a side issue—it’s at the heart of climate solutions. Together, we can make gender-responsive climate action the norm, not the exception.
